Register for the TOEFL

After you have created an account on the ets.org website, you can book a test date in this account.
Open the TOEFL Website in your browser and log in to your account with your access data.


Note:
Not every browser is supported by the ets.org website. Best choose Google Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer


On the  TOEFL Home page, click Register, Find test center, Dates.
Then select TOEFL IBT and under "select test location" decide whether you want to take the test at home or at a test center near you.
Important:
The TOEFL Essentials is not accepted by American universities, make sure again at this point that you have chosen the TOEFL IBT!

TOEFL IBT Test in a Testcenter

Klick Select a test center and below that select whether you want to see dates near you or in another location of your choice. Then enter 2 months in which the test date should be and click Continue. Now the possible dates are displayed. 
  1. Select your desired date by clicking on the green field with the date.
  2. Select the appropriate test center (if you are offered more than one).
  3. Click on Show Test Times and Register. 
  4. Select the appropriate time.
  5. Click on Register.
Check your selection and confirm with I acknowledge and understand the terms and conditions. 

TOEFL IBT Home Edition

Select a 2-month period in which you would like to take the test and click Continue. Now the possible dates are shown.
  1. Make sure that the correct time zone is selected, e.g. for Germany CET - Central European Time - (GMT +02:00).
  2. Select your desired date by clicking on the green field with the date.
  3. Limit at "Test Time" at which time you want to take the test. Pay attention to am and pm or let only dates from e.g. Noon to Evening, i.e. between 12.22h to 18.00h be displayed, so that you do not book the American time by mistake!
  4. Select the desired time.
  5. Check the information again and click Register for this test.

Important:
As it has happened that customers have accidentally booked the test for night (AM) instead of noon (PM), please pay special attention to the correct time. If you are not online at the agreed time, the test fee will not be refunded!

Check your selection and confirm with I acknowledge and understand the terms and conditions.
Then select which document you will use to identify yourself on the test date. Fill in the information (Passport or ID card) and click Next.

Note:
Check your data carefully. It is important that your full name (as it appears on your ID card) and your date of birth are correct, both cannot be changed later.

Choose no thanks for the TOEFL search service.


Fill in all fields marked with a red star at Background Informations:
  1. In what country or countries do you hope to study, work or settle? - United States of America
  2. What is your reason for taking the TOEFL test? - to attend an undergraduate program (if you already have a Bachelor's degree and are going to the USA for your Master's, please choose
    to attend a graduate or postgraduate program, other than a business program or to attend a graduate or postgraduate business program)
  3. Which of these includes your age?
  4. What is your current level of study? - Secondary School (high school)
  5. What is your next level of study? - Undergraduate program
  6. What is your desired field of study? - If you are not sure, you can also select undecided here.
You can leave the other questions blank and click on Next.

In the Free score recipients you can specify that ETS sends your official TOEFL score report to the university as soon as it is available. If you don't have a university yet, just click on Next.
Check the chosen date and the test center again carefully and click further to pay. You will be offered additional teaching material before the test. Scroll down and select the Next button.
  1. Click on Proceed to Checkout in the lower right corner, confirm the terms and conditions and click on the Pay Now button.
  2. Select your payment option (PayPal or credit card) and enter the required information.
  3. Complete the test registration.

Important:
Please let us know your test date after booking.



TOEFL Essentials

A brand new test is the TOEFL Essentials. Please do not book this yet, as it is not yet clear whether the test will be accepted by American universities.
