Your visa interview - what to expect and what to bring

Your interview at the embassy will not take more than a few minutes. The consular officer will ask you about your plans in the US and you will just tell them, that you are planning to study in the US in a scholarship and play sports for your university. As long as you bring below documents with you, that will be all.

What you need to bring:
  1. DS-160 Confirmation Page
  2. SEVIS FEE payment confirmation
  3. Appointment confirmation (print out from your visa account)
  4. I-20 (printed out, all 3 pages, signed by you on page 1)
  5. Passport
  6. 2 photos (see instructions below)
Important: Citizens of some countries need to pay an additional fee when applying for the F1 student visa. The so called RECIPROCITY FEE needs to be paid at your interview by credit card. See this list of countries if you are a citizen who is eligible to pay this fee (look for your country and then filter by visa type F-1). Citizens of the UK and South Africa do NOT need to pay the fee!
