Provide proof of financing

Provide proof of financing

American colleges are required by the Immigration Department to obtain proof from each international applicant that he or she has sufficient funds to finance his or her studies, including all additional expenses, for a full academic year. Evidence must be provided of the ability to cover the following costs.
  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation
  • Catering
  • Books and material
  • Health Insurance
  • Travel expenses
  • Other costs (pocket money)

Tip:
The amount to be proven by the applicant or his/her parents is the difference between the total amount and the amount of the scholarship.

Amount to be proven = total costs - scholarship

Tip:
In most cases the amount to be proven is higher than the personal cost share agreed with the coach / college. This is because the amount to be proven includes estimated amounts for travel and other costs. These are not charged by the College.

Affidavit of Support

An Affidavit of Support is a certificate from your sponsor (e.g. your parents) that he/she will support you or your studies financially up to a certain amount. Many colleges have a pre-filled form for this purpose. If this is not the case at your college, we have a sample letter for you.

Tip:
The Affidavit of Support does not legally represent a financial obligation for the Sponsor. It is rather a declaration of intent to support the applicant financially with regard to his studies.

Bank Statement

In addition to the affidavit of support, a bank statement must be submitted. In this way, the sponsor proves that he is not only willing but also able to support the applicant financially in the stated amount. The bank statement must be issued and signed by the sponsor's bank.

Tip:
Unfortunately, some banks are not particularly cooperative with regard to this proof. If there are any difficulties in your case, please let us know. So far we have always found a solution.
